Dr. Jesús G. Rodríguez brings two decades of unwavering dedication to transforming education and enhancing student achievement. His multifaceted career spans diverse leadership roles, leaving an indelible mark on classrooms, schools, and educational systems across the United States.
Beginning his journey with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado, Dr. Rodríguez continued to deepen his understanding of education by earning a Master of Arts degree in Education, Equity, Culture, and Diversity from the University of Colorado Boulder. He earned his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Denver.
Dr. Rodríguez's career trajectory is a testament to his passion for educational equity and student success. From the heart of Denver to the Western Slope of Colorado, spanning both urban and rural systems, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership at every level. His impact as a classroom teacher, a school principal, an instructional superintendent, executive director of the BUENO Center at CU Boulder, and as superintendent has been profound across the state.
Venturing beyond Colorado, Dr. Rodríguez served as the deputy chief academic officer in the Dallas Independent School District, one of the largest in the nation. His dynamic leadership and strategic vision played a pivotal role in shaping academic initiatives and accelerating student learning after the pandemic.
Currently, Dr. Rodríguez serves as the Deputy Superintendent of the Aurora Public Schools, the most diverse school district in Colorado. In his role, he oversees many critical functions, but also provides a deep level of instructional and school leadership experience that our system needs. Rodríguez drives innovation, fosters collaboration, and creates environments conducive to student success. His holistic approach to education, coupled with a deep understanding of policy dynamics, sets him apart as a transformative force in the field.
Dr. Rodríguez is an avid endurance runner, and most recently earned a personal record (PR) at the Colfax Marathon in Denver on May 19, 2024.
